To have and to hold

possession being nine-tenths of the law

so maybe before we get too old

and while we still have most of our teeth

we could grab all we can carry

and run for our lives.

Head up to the hills

to a place where with luck we’ll thrive;

We knew life’s not meant to be easy

Just hoped it would be worth it.

But until we’ve decided for ourselves,

we could be dancing

by firelight, naked and painted,

blowing the conch shell,

with firelight glinting from the leaves braided in your hair;

and all the world can go to hell.
