Sherri Papini: epilogue

There are topics about which I write a lot — politics foreign and domestic, gender issues, weird stuff that catches my eye — and the gift that kept on giving: Sherri Papini.

But no more.

This is my sixth and final installment in the saga of the abducted supermom who wasn’t abducted and who wasn’t much of a mom either.

But I’m not here to cast shade or shame. Her kids were 8 and 6 when she wasn’t abducted. They’re old enough now to decide what she deserves.

Sherri served 10 months of an 18 month sentence in prison and (like me) wants to move on. Now 41, Sherri lives an affluent lifestyle with a widower who must know he’s hooked up with a pathological liar.

Or maybe he’s just there for the tits.

I wonder if he’s also helping her with the $300K fine she was handed.

Because if the new bloke/victim needs a Papini primer, there’s plenty ways for him to get educated:

the movie (‘Hoax: The Kidnapping of Sherri Papini),

a documentary (‘Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini‘),

another documentary (Sherri Papini: Lies, Lies and More Lies),

a docuseries, (‘Sherri Papini: Caught in the Lie‘),

or even Sherri’s self-published fantasy (‘22 Days‘) if you can find it.

All of which explain the spike I’ve had on this blog.

People are drilling down, seemingly fascinated by a tale that’s as old as Adam and Eve and that damned serpent. But the story itself is far from over, even if it is over for me.

Because in keeping with her pathology, Sherri is still lying. She’s playing us in the same way the media played us all along.

Because this is what Sherri Papini really loooks like:

Same woman, would you believe?

It’s all lies. And not just the photoshopped variety, because despite the plea she entered at court, she now insists she was abducted (by ex-boyfriend James Reyes) and that her marriage (to ‘abusive’ ex-husband Keith) was a toxic sham.

She’s at least persuaded one person, being the actress who played her in the movie:

Sherri has hung her hat on the puerile mental-health excuse to exonerate herself: She has ‘self-defeating personality disorder’ or some bullshit, meaning that she is actually the victim.

Not her ex-husband or kids or even her lover, just Sherri.

The real Sherri:

Maybe for revenge, or maybe as a community service announcement, Keith has repeatedly warned all Sherri’s future exes what to expect: A cold, uncaring, manipulative, shallow and selfish woman who has no empathy for others and has never shown remorse.

To them: Caveat emptor.

For us: remember that Sherri Papini did all of this for money. Threw away her marriage, her husband, her children, even her own mother. For money. That it backfired doesn’t change her pathology.

She’s famous now. Infamous. Sherri Papini will have her payday, because she knows that in America crime does pay.

But I won’t contribute to it anymore. I am done with Sherri Papini.
